LE Prints

Some places don't leave you. The bend in the river, the herons wading at low tide, the cow pasture you passed a hundred times on the way to somewhere else. This collection was painted from those places, the ones that make up the quiet backbone of an old Florida most people are still looking for.

Each piece began the same way every painting of mine does, built up in layers with a palette knife until the light and texture feel almost like you could touch them. Flowers, shorebirds, wildlife, landscapes, boats resting at the dock, cattle grazing in the gold hour. Water runs through nearly all of it, because it runs through most of what I remember about this state.

Somewhere in each piece, a small butterfly is hidden. It's been my signature for as long as I've been painting, a quiet reminder that beauty is often found in the noticing, not the searching.
